Congenital deformities
Fortunately these are very rare. A wide range of deformities are described in the literature. On the one hand, the patient frequently does not even notice them, but on the other the mobility, strength and function of the shoulder can be so badly affected that invalidity results. Congenital deformities can affect not only the bony skeleton, but also the tendons, muscle sheaths, ligaments, nerves or blood supply. A wide variety of corrective treatments are available for such deformities, and these should be left to those surgeons who are very frequently confronted with these types of problems.
